Go Green

Recycling

Much of the development undertaken by Technical Paint Services is linked to environmental issues, in particular the reduction of our own carbon footprint. Following several years of research and studies, we now manufacture a number of coatings utilising recycled resins, allied chemicals and other raw ingredients that are otherwise classified as waste materials. These are typically water-based coatings and resins, yet these do include some solvent-based products originating from leading paint manufacturers with whom we work in assisting them with their own carbon footprint reduction.

Hand in hand with the drive towards minimising the introduction of new chemicals, waste disposal by landfill, which for many years has been the only alternative for effective eradication, is also being greatly reduced as companies seek new methods of “going green” within their new product development cycles.

One such product to come out of this movement is the innovative Dunweedin’. This is a stunning range of colourful garden chippings and a great example of a recycled product. The chippings are made from recycled rubber tyres - so, as well as offering a new design idea, they also help to solve a very serious problem of how to dispose of the growing numbers of disused tyres generated by motorists. In conjunction with Dunweedin’ Ltd, our parent company Technical Paint Services, developed and patented the coloured, scented coating for these chips, with the production process being totally reliant on using waste materials. So from tyres and waste paints, a great idea for use in gardens and playgrounds has been created.

If you are a producer or user of paints, resins, allied chemicals or other raw materials and you have surplus requirements or disposal issues, we may be able to offer you an alternative method of disposal, at the same time as assisting you with your own carbon footprint consideration.
